It can all be very confusing. Put the baby on her tummy, no her
side, no her back. Over the years, we've been told many
different things about sleeping positions for babies. Here's the
scoop, from my perspective, anyway.
Years ago, it was common practice for babies to sleep on their
stomachs. And, there was good reason - babies sleep more soundly
on their tummies than in any other position. Most of us were put
to sleep on our stomachs, and we turned out fine, right?
But, now we have a little ...

As I gently wake in the morning to the sun's first subtle peek
through my dark bamboo shades, I turn onto my left side and a
smile quickly overtakes the corners of my mouth. My senses are
filled with my precious child, peacefully slumbering, and
perhaps dreaming of a day filled with new discoveries and
adventures. Moments such as these offer me a sense of
contentment that all is perfect in the moment.
If only I had known that my heart would be captured by this
amazing being that I brought into ...

Basic Tips
1. Communicate with your babysitter, nannies or au pair,
mother's help to keep up-to-date.
Make as much time as possible to talk to your child care
provider. If you can keep the lines of communication open beyond
the rush, you'll have a much better feeling about your child's
development and well being.
2. Don't get wound up by small issues.
If your child only wants to eat burgers every day, let him eat
them. He will outgrow this phase. Providing the child is not
harming itself ...

What could be worse than a lump of coal in baby's first
Christmas stocking?
One of these ten gifts:
1. Any Toy or Product With More Than 10 Pieces That Must Be Put
Together
Ever see a new parent on Christmas day? You know why they look
so tired? Because they spent the previous 12 hours putting
together a single baby toy that promised to be "easy to
assemble."
If you see the words, 'Assembly Required' anywhere on the
packaging, that is not a gift you want to give for baby's first
Christmas.
If ...

Sometimes the best thing you can do for your child's early
literacy development is simply to let them play. Turn off the TV
and anything battery operated then let your child pick up their
toys, build blocks or duplos, or manipulate puzzles or game
pieces. Not only are you giving your child the gift of
childhood, something we so often fail to do in today's hectice,
achievement-oriented world, but you are actually helping them
build skills that are key to learning to read and write.
